The Pavilion is the hub of island life. It is where people gather to eat, drink, socialize or simply sit and enjoy. There is a dining area where you can eat alone, or share a meal with other guests. The choice is yours.

Food . . .

We aim for dining to be an enjoyable and memorable feature of your stay. We offer varied cuisine, specialising in local cooking which is a blend of Pacific, Indian, Chinese and European influences. We emphasise local seafood, fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, the bulk of which are from our organically grown garden.

All meals, morning and afternoon teas, and beverages (including wines and other alcoholic drinks) are complimentary.

Meals can be taken in the Pavilion, on the beach, in your room or at any other romantic spot on the island you wish. Meal times are flexible. Snacks, morning and afternoon tea, coffee and cool drinks are available upon request at anytime in the Pavilion, your bure or on the beach. We are happy to provide picnics for outings.

Drinks . . .

Drinks are available from the bar in the Pavilion, the Beach Bar, in your bure or on the beach at any time. We also have our own cellar here at Nukubati stocked with a selection of Australian and other imported wines. Champagne and canapés are delivered to you at sunset, so you can sit and enjoy the spectacular views and reflect on the day’s happening. Evening cocktails are also served at the bar where you will find a full bar list.

Kava . . .

Kava (“grog” or yaqona) is the national drink of the Fiji Islands. Its traditions are ceremonial and of ritual significance. These days, however, it is more often consumed socially. People sit together around the Kava bowl (Tanoa), sharing the drink which is made from a local root (pepper tree) which is pounded and mixed with water. It is non alcoholic but mildly numbing to the lips and tongue. If consumed in large quantities it can have a sedative effect.

At Nukubati, staff and guests sit together in the Pavilion once a week after dinner for Kava and a Meke (traditional dance) for the quiet sharing of a bowl, perhaps stories and sometimes music. Everyone is welcome to join the circle.
